Esta técnica permite movimientos de cámara más complejos y consigue ahorrar mucho tiempo de render ya que no hay luces en la escena, todo esta prerenderizado, pintado y autoiluminado. La camara matte la he usado para proyectar los mattes sobre los objetos, en este caso he usado 6 mattes: el terreno, la vegetación cercana, la vegetación lejana, la entrada, la iglesia y el domo del cielo. Empecé a modelarlo con el Sculptris, mmmm... muy buen software y gratis!!!, pero al final cambié al 3dcoat para darle más detalle y para probar la nueva herramienta de autoretopo. I started the model in Sculptris, mmmm... very nice software and free!!!, but i changed to 3dcoat to add more detail and to test the new autoretopo tool. Entonces empezaron a aparecer ideas de como ahorrar tiempo (que es muy valioso... pero mucho...) utilizando matte paintings para algo más que para fondos. Buscando información por ahi he visto matte paintings de hasta primeros planos... cosas realmente curiosas y algunas brutales... Resumiendo, que me ha resultado interesante el tema y aquí os presento el resultado del primer test y os muestro parte del proceso.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: #999999; font-style: italic;"&gt;The animation is out... oooooeoeoeoe... it has been a bit heavy, sometimes frustrating, but it has been worthwhile.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: #999999; font-style: italic;"&gt;The idea came up when I looked up a Blizzard's matte painting, I think it was for WOW, when I was working in Planet 51 with the 3D development of enviroments, vegetation and to support matte painting department as well as the shading. Then ideas begin to come up to save time (it is very valuable) using matte paintings for something more than backgrounds. Searching information I have watch matte paintings videos for close ups... curious and amazing things... La inteción era realizar un matte que permitiera rotar la cámara con bastante libertad y hacer un zoom considerable. Aqui teneis el concept que creé en el Max, es donde realicé la animación tanto del layout, que sirvió para establecer especificaciones como tamaño de la imagen, escala de los objetos, profundidad, timming etc., como la final, que cambió bastante y no tuve que rehacer nada. También subo una imagen con los elementos en 3d que he usado como soporte. Las rocas están modeladas a partir de una caja subdividida y desplazamiento procedural, los arbustos están sembrados con PFlow y los postes de luz son de la galeria 3d de google... muy útil para estos casos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: #999999; font-style: italic;"&gt;It is the final matte painting, the original size is 10000 pixels, and &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="short_text" id="result_box" style="color: #999999; font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span title=""&gt;would  become the main focus of the exercise. Here it is the concept I created in Max, it is where I animated as layout, it worked to establish the image size, objects scale, depth, timing, etc., as the final animation, it changed enough and I had to redo anything. Also I update a picture with the 3D elements I used as support. La correción de color se ha hecho en After effects porque el Nuke no lo controlo y no he podido encontrar ni un maldito "color balance". Esta es una de las razones del nivel de detalle, ya que sino no es necesario para la animación del matte.&lt;br /&gt;Al final también he subido una prueba de render con matte y con las texturas de suciedad, para apreciar la integración con el fondo y hacer una aproximación de la posproducción final.&lt;br /&gt;El modelo lo he creado solo para hacer las pruebas, no lo necesito para nada más. It's a reason why the car has a high level of detail, because for the animation of the matte painting this detail isn't necessary.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(153, 153, 153);"&gt;Finally I've uploaded a matte render test and dirtiness textures too, to see the integration with the background and to do an approximation of the final postproduction. En lo referente al subsurface, aunque muy completo me cuesta usarlo correctamente. En esta imagen he utilizado el sss Fast Material, porque el del skin y el physical me daban problemas con el Final Gather, pero este no tiene reflexión... También probé a mezclar dos materiales uno con sss y otro con reflexión, dándole como valor de mezcla un falloff en modo fresnel, pero el sss perdia las propiedades... pffffffffffff..., pero bueno no ha ido del todo mal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Por cierto se nota que echaba de menos la playa? ;)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="color:#999999;"&gt;Time ago I wanted to do a study of procedural materials and play with the subsurface.&lt;br /&gt;During the process I missed in Max a little more variety in procedurals, though there are some plugins that rectified as &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.ylilammi.com/"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="color:#999999;"&gt;Bercon maps&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="color:#999999;"&gt;, but this scene is all done with Max procedurals, sand, trunks, rocks and fauna varied. With regard to the subsurface, though it's very complet I can't use it correctly. In this image I have used the sss Fast Material because the sss Fast Skin and the Physical sss give me trouble with the Final Gather, but it hasn't got reflexion... Aunque aún tengo cosas pendientes con él ya puedo afirmar que es muy amigable, en dos dias ya se tiene un buen control de las herramientas de modelado y las capas. También estoy probando el modelado en alta resolución de rocas y paredes, para sacar un pipeline personalizado entre mudbox y 3dsmax, aunque de momento el que uso de zbrush y max me permite hacer cosas más complejas con los materiales.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(153, 153, 153);"&gt;Okay, I started to test the mudbox. Althought I still have things pending with it, now i can say it is very friendly, you can have, in two days,  a good control of modelling tools and layers. El General esta modelado y texturizado en max y zbrush. Las montañas también estan hechas con max a partir de un plano y displace mediante procedurales... mmmm el poder de los procedurales... me flipan. El modelo y los materiales estan hechos a manita  y el motor de render es vray. La intención es tener un lugar donde mostrar mi trabajo y compartir técnicas, recursos y temas relacionados con la ilustración, el 3d, el cine, animacion, fotografia, etc.&lt;br /&gt;Para estrenarlo empezaré con la última ilustración que hice antes de entrar a trabajar en Ilion y que me ha acompañado durante todos estos años como fondo d&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:arial;font-size:100%;"  &gt;e escritorio en el trabajo.&lt;br /&gt;La tecnica empleada es: primero un bocetillo (que tambien posteo), a continuación añado el color base y posteriormente luces, sombras y efectos tales como la dispersion de la luz en la piel (SSS).&lt;br /&gt;En esta también creé un par de elementos en 3d, la jarra la hice con el zbrush y el líquido con un plugin de fluidos para 3dsmax llamado glu3d (saludos a Santi).&lt;br /&gt;Al final la ilustracion quedo como la podeis ver (ya tiene cinco añitos) pero aún le metería mano otra vez, corregiría algunas cosillas, como el líquido, y daria más definición a otras, como la zona de la boca, pero a este paso... no se acabaría nunca.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(153, 153, 153);font-family:trebuchet ms;" &gt;Welcome to my blog... that I have decided to publish fi&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(153, 153, 153);font-family:trebuchet ms;" &gt;nally.
